Captured on iPhone: Wallace & Gromit Exhibit Featured at Apple's UK Headquarters
“Stop-motion animation opens a door into a world where the possibilities are endless, and creativity is king!” If you've ever been captivated by the quirky adventures of Wallace & Gromit, get ready for an innovative twist! Aardman Animations, in collaboration with Apple, has brought an extraordinary stop-motion Christmas animation to life, epitomizing the creative prowess of the ‘Shot on iPhone’ campaign.
Project Overview
No longer constrained by traditional cameras, the famed pair—Wallace & Gromit—spring into action through a lens usually reserved for personal snapshots: the iPhone. Apple partnered with the iconic animation studio Aardman to create a delightful piece that captivates both the eyes and imagination. What could be more exciting? This vibrant animation is projected onto the stunning backdrop of London's Battersea Power Station!
Technical Wizardry
The magic was all in the details. Shot exclusively on the iPhone 16 Pro, the animation utilized the device's cutting-edge Telephoto mode along with 4K stills captured in ProRAW format. This choice was no accident. Eight iPhones were expertly synchronized using the Dragonframe Tether app, ensuring every clay giggle and gasp was captured with stunning clarity. Imagine transforming handheld technology into a formidable tool of cinematic art!
The Battersea Projection
This isn’t your average projection. The animation magnificently scales up Wallace & Gromit’s 23-centimeter models into an extraordinary 101-meter spectacle, wrapping the grandeur of Battersea Power Station in festive narrative. Such innovative use of urban landscape gives classic storytelling a modern touch, blending traditional animation with pioneering technology.
