The U.S. Coast Guard said Friday it will review a training incident along the Potomac River that triggered security concerns about President Obama on the eighth anniversary of the September 11 attacks. (keep the fear alive)

"We are still gathering information of how this training event might have been misconstrued as an actual incident. We will conduct a thorough review of this incident," the Coast Guard said in a statement.

It added, "The best way that we in the Coast Guard can remember September 11, and our security obligations to the nation is to be always ready and this requires constant training and exercise. To ensure the appropriate readiness posture, we conduct training scenarios across the nation on a daily basis."

Minutes after Obama crossed the Memorial Bridge following an event at the Pentagon, word broke that a Coast Guard vessel apparently was trying to prevent a suspicious boat from entering a security zone.

There were reports on police scanners that the Coast Guard fired 10 rounds of ammunition. But a Department of Homeland Security representative later said no shots had been fired. (Yes prob what actually happened, then quickly denied)

"Reports in the media were based on overheard radio calls made over a training frequency," the Coast Guard said. "There were Coast Guard boats ... operating in the vicinity of 14th Street and Memorial bridges this morning. Whether or not these were the same boats using the marine radio frequency used for training purposes has not yet been confirmed."

The Secret Service said the president was back at the White House by the time reports surfaced of shots being fired.

Federal agency emergency operations centers were not aware of the Coast Guard training exercise on the Potomac and began making contingency plans when word broke of what seemed to be a security incident, a federal source said.

Boris Johnson has Coronavirus!

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus and is self-isolating in Downing Street. He said he had experienced mild symptoms over the past 24 hours, including a temperature and cough, but would continue to lead the government. Health Secretary Matt Hancock said he had also tested positive while England's Chief Medical Officer, Prof Chris Whitty, has shown symptoms. Another 181 people died with the virus in the past day,  figures showed. It takes the total number of UK deaths to 759, with 14,543 confirmed cases. The daily coronavirus news conference was led by Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove, alongside deputy chief medical officer Dr Jenny Harries and NHS chief executive Simon Stevens.
