Child survives plane crash in Indian ocean.

Image
A massive rescue effort was under way Tuesday after a young child was found among the wreckage of a downed Yemeni jet off the coast of Comoros in the Indian Ocean. "One child is alive and we hope to find more," Yemenia Airways chairman Capt. Abdulkhalek al-Kadi told CNN. The child has been taken to a hospital. The French Navy is sending ships and a plan to help Yemeni authorities try to find any more survivors, he said. The Yemenia Airways flight went down early Tuesday, carrying 153 people en route to the island nation of Comoros (moon) from Yemen's capital, Sanaa. A reconnaissance plane spotted traces of the Airbus A310-300 in waters off the town of Mitsamiouli early Tuesday, said Comoros Vice President Idi Nadhoim. Comoros is located off the coast of east Africa, between Tanzania and Madagascar. Al-Kadi blamed the crash on bad weather, noting that there were "high seas and windy weather" at the time. It is the second crash involving an Airbus jet in a ...

Michael Jackson's Father Continues To Pimp Out His New Record Label

Image
NCINO, CA (Hollywood Today) 6/30/09 — So, what the heck is this new Blu-ray company that Michael Jackson’s father Joe Jackson was mentioning on the red carpet of the BET Awards Sunday that caused such backlash by those who felt it was bad form in light of his son’s death only a couple days earlier? Joe sat down to provide details exclusively to Hollywood Today Monday evening at a hotel not far from the family home in Encino with Jackson’s two partners in the new venture, Erick Hansen and Marshall Thompson. The bottom line, plans are in the works for some music of Jackson’s children to be released on Blu-ray (the elder Jackson does not have any claim to recent rehearsal footage, according to legal representatives for the family who asked not to be quoted), but no discussion of anything to do with Michael was permitted as you’ll see in the accompanying 3 ½-minute video condensation of the half-hour interview. As for the anger over Jackson’s timing of this announcement, the public will ha...

American al Qaeda member is a jew?

Image
In a new anti-Israel, anti-U.S. video, an American al Qaeda member makes reference to his Jewish ancestry for the first time in an official al Qaeda message. In the video, Adam Yahiye Gadahn, also known as Azzam the American, discusses his roots as he castigates U.S. policies and deplores Israel's offensive in Gaza that started in late December 2008 and continued into January. "Let me here tell you something about myself and my biography, in which there is a benefit and a lesson," Gadahn says, as he elicits support from his fellow Muslims for "our weapons, funds and Jihad against the Jews and their allies everywhere." "Your speaker has Jews in his ancestry, the last of whom was his grandfather," he says. Growing up in rural California, Gadahn embraced Islam in the mid-1990s, moved to Pakistan and has appeared in al Qaeda videos before. He was indicted in the United States in 2006 on charges of treason and material support to al Qaeda , accord...

9/11 museum will keep the fairytale alive.

Image
The time has come to cross the t’s and dot the i’s. The development of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center is far enough along that officials are now asking the victims’ next of kin to confirm the accuracy of the names that are to be inscribed around the memorial pools. They are also asking family members to share stories and mementos from the victims’ lives to incorporate into a permanent display. In doing so, they are showing some preliminary new images — still quite conceptual — of what the museum’s memorial exhibition hall would look like. The north half of the museum is devoted to history. The part that sits under the south memorial pool, within the structural footprint of 2 World Trade Center, is devoted to commemoration. This exhibition hall, far underground and close to bedrock, would be approached by a small footbridge across a trough with visible remnants of the south tower’s perimeter columns. Visitors would clearly know they were ente...

At least 17 dead in Bomb Attack of 5 star Pakistani hotel.

Image
The death toll from a suicide attack on a five-star hotel in the northwest Pakistani city of Peshawar rose to at least 17 people Wednesday, police said. Three suicide attackers shot their way onto the grounds of the Pearl Continental Hotel , which is often frequented by foreigners and diplomats, and set off a vehicle bomb Tuesday night. The attack also wounded at least 64, according to Qhazi Jamil, senior superintendent of Peshawar police. Among the dead were two U.N. employees -- a Serbian national working for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees and a UNICEF worker from the Philippines -- and the hotel's general manager. The blast inflicted severe damage on the building, which is surrounded by a security wall, and destroyed dozens of cars in the parking lot, police and witnesses said. The chief of Peshawar's bomb-disposal squad said the bomb contained about 500 kilograms (1,100 pounds) of explosives. Surveillance video appeared to show a car and a truck involved in th...

David Carradine was investigating asian secret societies

Image
A secret sect of kung fu assassins could have silenced actor David Carradine as he delved into their shadowy activities, according to his family's lawyer. In a twist that could be straight out of one the "Kill Bill" star's movies, attorney Mark Geragos suggested that Carradine may have been killed as he tried to uncover groups working in the martial-arts underworld. The lawyer said the actor's family refuses to believe he died in a sadomasochistic sex stunt gone wrong -- despite his being found naked with a rope tied around his neck, wrists and genitals. Loved ones have urged the FBI to travel to Thailand and pick up the pieces of the police investigation there. "They've done it because of the conflicting reports and the nature of those reports that have given the family great pause," Geragos said. The secret societies of martial artists should be the first place they start looking for answers, said the prominent Hollywood lawyer, who...

Recruitment shooter was brainwashed!

Image
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (CNN) -- The Tennessee man suspected in Monday's attack on a recruitment center in Little Rock, Arkansas, was brainwashed and tortured while imprisoned in Yemen , his lawyer said Thursday. "My client is a young man, I think, brainwashed," attorney Jim Hensley told CNN. "What else could be explained for a young man who's a true American, plays football, helps his grandmother and mows the lawns of his neighbors? Comes back and then finds himself in this situation? That is not a normal situation in my book." Abdulhakim Muhammad, formerly known as Carlos Bledsoe, is charged with killing Pvt. William Long, 23, of Conway, Arkansas, and wounding Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula, 18, of Jacksonville, Arkansas. The 23-year-old convert to Islam has pleaded not guilty. But, according to court records, he told police that he had "political and religious" motives for the shooting. In September 2007, Muhammad left Tennessee State University in N...

Actor David Carradine found dead hanging in his closet.

Image
American actor David Carradine has been found dead, hanging by a nylon rope in a hotel room closet in Bangkok, Thailand, according to a Thai police official. Carradine became famous in the 1970s when he starred in the television series "Kung Fu." The rope was believed taken from the hotel room curtains, Bangkok Police Lt. Colonel Pirom Chanpirom said. Investigators found no sign of a forced entry into Carradine's room, Chanpirom said. An autopsy was being conducted at a Bangkok hospital, but no results will be available for another day, he said. A Carradine family spokeswoman issued a short statement saying the family "is devastated by the news of David's passing." "Circumstances surrounding his death are still unknown, and there will be no further comment until more information can be confirmed," the statement said. "The family appreciates the many expressions of condolence, and asks for privacy at this time." Carradine's ...

Bin laden rises from Grave to make another tape.

Image
- Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden purportedly issued another statement Wednesday, saying U.S. policy in Pakistan has generated "new seeds of hatred and revenge against America." Osama bin Laden is seen in an image taken from a videotape that aired on Al-Jazeera in September 2003. Zeroing in on the conflict in Pakistan's Swat Valley, where Pakistan's troops are taking on Taliban militants, the message asserts that President Obama is proving that he is "walking the same road of his predecessors to build enmity against Muslims and increasing the number of fighters, and establishing more lasting...

Boy scouts trained to fight terrorists!

IMPERIAL, Calif. — Ten minutes into arrant mayhem in this town near the Mexican border, and the gunman, a disgruntled Iraq war veteran, has already taken out two people, one slumped in his desk, the other covered in blood on the floor. The responding officers — eight teenage boys and girls, the youngest 14 — face tripwire, a thin cloud of poisonous gas and loud shots — BAM! BAM! — fired from behind a flimsy wall. They move quickly, pellet guns drawn and masks affixed. “United States Border Patrol ! Put your hands up!” screams one in a voice cracking with adolescent determination as the suspect is subdued. It is all quite a step up from the square knot. The Explorers program, a coeducational affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America that began 60 years ago, is training thousands of young people in skills used to confront terrorism, illegal immigration and escalating border violence — an intense ratcheting up of one of the group’s longtime missions to prepare youths for more traditional j...
